The Checkered Path...

Sounds kind of dicey, huh?...Like a "checkered past"...;^)

But, it's my new flower/herb garden walkway; the "boys" finished it this evening.

I'm really happy with it, but then I like checks in almost any form...

As a surprise, they started working on the little fish pond, as well...

Birds are so smart, really. This robin couldn't wait for Mr. B and Jonathan to move OUT OF HIS WAY...not sure which he was more determined to get ~ worms in the tilled soil, or water in the fish pond...(that part didn't happen yet) ~

Probably worms.

(To be continued...)

  1. How exciting! A new checkered path and a fish pond. Just love making new little areas in the garden. Especially when it comes off the way you had it pictured in your mind. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to future updates.

  8. Hello Anne,
Thank you so much for visiting me and joining as a follower. I think I must be your newest follower now. What a wonderful blog you have. So much to see and read about. I love your Leo! How beautiful he is!! I have a little long haired Chihuahua called Corey. But I love cats too. If you have time to scroll back through my pictures I have done several 'people' cats.

Have a wonderful day! We are having very heavy April showers.

  9. Ha ha...I laughed with the robin. I have one that follows me around my garden whenever I dig, waiting for me to move out of the way, so he can see if anything to eat has surfaced. They are such opportunists!

I love that fish pond! That will be so cute. And that checkered path is lovely.

  10. Your checkered path is very cute! Don't you LOVE robins? They are so hungry, always looking for their worms. I love their fat orange chests, all proud and bright.

  14. Hi Anne!
So blessed to meet you and glad you're sticking around The Writer's Reverie as a follower. I'm following you back - so enjoyed my visit with you here. Loved those dyed eggs - never saw the interiors dyed - so lovely! And, all you amazing postcard scans - love vintage images!!

What a great start to your garden - we're putting a little footpath through our random wildflowers this year so we can better fill all the feeders. Last year we didn't do that and couldn't get to the birdfeeders for re-fills! Photos of the process following this spring and summer . . .

Your vintage family pictures are so very sweet. Love them all. Magnolia Manor looks very like the Lovelace Manor B&B in Lancaster PA where we stayed last year - I'll have to compare the photos more closely.

Loved your egg hunt story. What a blessing that the Lord showed His good pleasure on your generous and giving heart when He put the golden egg before YOU after you gave your eggs away. Love that!!

    Joy!
    Kathy
