A Saturday Evening Toast...

To my Grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elisha Yancy Launius, first of Bloomfield, then for the next 50 years, Essex, Missouri.

E.Y. and Gertrude...

'Lish and Gertie...

The tuberoses blooming make me think so much of them...

I've read that our sense of smell can evoke the most vivid memories, and I believe it.

My daughter Katie thinks Grandma looked like Kate Winslet ~

Grandpa looks like my oldest son, Mark...(that should be the other way around...;^)

So young, in 1916.

Grandpa was born 100 years before my youngest son, Jonathan; 1894...1994.

The little sugar bowl and creamer were a wedding gift from Grandma's mother...I'm so pleased to have them...♥

I'm making my post short, tonight...my computer keeps freezing up...
Maybe my fun PicMonkey is to blame?

Anyway, I hope everyone has a wonderful, (rainy, where needed) Sunday...

  2. Great photo of your Grandparents--and isn't it fun to find family resemblances.

I use Pic Monkey all the time and haven't had any issues...so maybe that's not it.

  4. A lovely post and what lovely, precious family treasures you have!

I agree about the sense of smell. I opened a sewing tin the other day that belonged to my Mom, and its smell filled my head with memories too.

    Enjoy your Sunday!!

  8. Hi Anne...Nice post of remembrance.

You are right about the sense of smell helping us to recall scenes of the past. It's so true.

No rain here, even though we need it. At least the oppressive heat has lifted. Take care. Susan

  9. Hi, Anne,
Such a sweet and heartfelt post to your grandparents. They are a very handsome couple for sure! Yes, I think smells can bring back many wonderful memories. I, too, have special memories of loved ones tied to particular flowers. My maternal grandparents had a huge trumpet vine at their home. I always think of them when I see one. Have a blessed and happy Sunday my friend~ Vicki
