A little revision here...Kathy (at http://oregongiftsofcomfortandjoy.blogspot.com/) suggested I add these photos to Sepia Saturday, so I decided I would!
Before doing this, I also added my "A Little Fur in the Paint" info to them, but as promised, if anyone wants to use them in something creative, just e-mail me at anne@octobermoondesigns.com and I will gladly send you the (large) files without that information on them. :^)

I want to share some sweet images with you,
Feel free to use them however you wish, but if you share them, would you link back to me, pretty please? :)
This cute little fellow is my Mom's cousin Carl Collier, in the 1920s...it looks like he's on his way to mail a letter!
♥
♥
These are both from the family album of a friend of my husband's family, from Cairo, Illinois.
He did not have children, and really had no family left.
He loved Nelson's family, and left many things to them; we wound up with these pretty cabinet card images from the 1880s...
♥
This is another Collier cousin...
Don't you want that fabulous rocking horse??
♥
♥
And finally, just for smiles, I had to show you this card that was in some of my Daddy's photos from his college days at Mizzou...
Evidently, hitching a ride was not only not considered dangerous, it was encouraged!
The university had printed up these little cards for students to hand out...
This was probably from 1939-40.
How times have changed!
~
Have a great weekend, all!
Anne

ReplyDeleteHello Anne
ReplyDeleteI do love looking and old photos. They tell us so much. My grand-daughter enjoys that too and we sit down together talk about the photos and muse on what the people would have been like, what they did perhaps and everything else...its so much fun.

Anne, There was a time when my parents would never hesitate to pick up a service man. My brother Charles used to hitch hike home on leave too. I like to think of when our world was that trustworthy.xo, Susie
ReplyDeleteFantastic family photos! I love old memories of our families and yours are stunning! :) So much history and love!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
What beautiful photos. I'm glad they went to a good home.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos, full of character.
ReplyDeleteI have a real weakness for the old photos...the fact that you know who these are make them just that much better. I brought a few back from vacation with me this summer, myself. Off to HI in a few - have a great week! XOXO Tanya
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous photos and you are so lucky to have them of family members. My favourite is the little boy and girl who look so happy - often in photos of this period they look so solemn.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous selection of photos. Enchanting.
ReplyDeleteAll of your images are beautiful. Love the effects on some of the pics. I'm going to show the inside of the Edwin Halliday house in Cairo next week.
ReplyDeleteA penny farthing tricycle... I've never seen one, until now. Beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteA time when hitchhiking was encouraged....wow! I kinda wish I could live in that time a while, just to see if the good ol days really were better :)
