Trick or Treat!

Happy Halloween, everyone!

We're getting treat bags ready for the spooky little revellers that will be coming knocking tonight...

I spent years going with the Trick-or-Treaters...

All my children were so far apart in age

that someone was always young enough to want to go out Trick-or-Treating...

and it was always late when we got home... too late to hand out treats ourselves ~

so this is still fairly novel for us!

I want to share this yummy recipe with you...

After all the sugary sweets, this tangy snack just hits the spot!

Dilly-Ranch Crackers

I large bag Oyster Crackers
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 tsp. Lemon Pepper
1/2 tsp. Garlic Salt
1 Heaping tbs. Dill Weed (the dried green plant, not the seeds)
1 pkg. dry Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing Mix

Mix all the ingredients and pour over the oyster crackers, stirring well. Spread on a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes at 350, stirring a couple of times.

So easy!

So good!!

Here's something fitting for All Hallow's Eve, I think ~
from Blackmore's Night...

(Video at bottom)
Are you familiar with them?
Ritchie Blackmore, the group's leader, was lead guitarist for Deep Purple, "back in the day"
...
(I am dating myself here!)
Lovely Celtic music from his wife and him, now.
~

See the little antique chocolate-mold Pierrot in the photo with the crackers?

A birthday gift from my dear friend Wendy...

(Check out Wendy's blog here ~)

...and click the name for her beautiful website, Victorian Chocolate Molds ~

Isn't he marvelous??

Oh, and I have to share this!

I LOVE Henri...(probably because he reminds me so much of one of my Angel Kitties, Artie...

ennui, and all!)

(The facial markings are even similar!...I miss Artie ~ he was my boy!)

Anyway, Henri's newest video is "L'Haunting"...

You can see Henri's other videos here...

and you'll understand about the "tribute to lost (spider) friends...:)

I had so many lovely birthday wishes and surprises!

I just found out that my sweet friend Elaine made

the wonderful witch and cat in my previous post...

I had no idea! They are so elegant!

Thank you, everyone.

That's all for now...have a safe and fun Halloween!!

One more thing!
The winner of my little okra-pod Vulture is...

Carol, of Our Sears Kit Home!

Carol, please send me your address so Mr. Vulture can wing himself your way!

  1. Our mom doesn't give out treats to the human kids because there are hundreds that come through and she also doesn't want to freak us out.

We hope your Halloween is filled with lots of treats!

  3. Happy Halloween- What fun it is to be on the giving end, don't you think? We live so far out now that we don't get any trick or treaters-sad, really- xo Diana

  4. We were ready here, but had no little spooks - for the second year in a row. Our neighborhood is only a one-street development, and there have never been many children who were out on Halloween.

Belated birthday wishes, Anne! I didn't know when it was.

  5. Happy Halloween !
We actually only had 4 lots of trick or treaters tonight .. I think the weather here in the UK kept the little ones in doors.
Thanks for popping on the 'Wind Dance of the Fairies' at the end of your post. I'm familiar with Deep Purple with my Dad being a fan and my husband listening to them so it's great to hear music that I would not usually come across

  10. Clearly I have missed out, as I have never been trick or treating. It is only in recent years that it has started to catch on here.
I hope you had a wonderful time.

  11. Hi Anne,
the cat video is so cute. We don't celebrate Halloween here so Wiski has nothing to scare. But your decoration looks nice and the recipe sounds yummy. Thank you for sharing and have fun.
    Best greetings, Johanna

  12. We don't get treaters this far out in the country, and my son decided he doesn't like going out, so we haven't been in a long time. I miss taking the kids around and seeing all the little ones going door to door! Cute cat video!

  15. We had so few trick-or-treaters! But I did get to dress up the dog.

As a student of the guitar, I sure do know who you are referencing. He's the perfect example of creative uses of obscure scales such as Hungarian Minor. Very talented indeed and perfect for Halloween!

  16. I pass out candy on Halloween, too. I really might should consider treat bags. Right now, we get the full size candy bars at Sam's and let the children pick. Most pick one, some pick two and one little girl last night chose about 5 things she couldn't live without. She was so cute, though, we didn't mind a bit. Especially since Halloween was on a church night and we only had 54 trick or treaters. Slow season - but still fun.

  17. Dear Anne - I bet the tricksters loved the treats they received at your home. The haunting of Henri was too cute for sure and your angel kittie Artie was beautiful. He looks like my Scooter except for longer hair. Take care and have a wonderful Nov. 1st. xo Pixie

  18. (belated) Happy Halloween, Anne!

I like to have children with "spaced" ages at home - more time for me to be a child ahahah. Now that the youngest is reaching the oh-mum-teenager age I'm starting to feel deprived ahahahah

Hop you and your treat or trickers had a lovely time celebrating!

    Love,
    T

  20. Hi Anne! Oh how I laughed at that video. With such an appropriate ending with the lowest tone. All of us cat lovers out there can so relate to the stuffiness Henri exudes to us lowly humans... haha

Artie did look like Henri! Beautiful. I miss my equally beautiful white kitty Glove, whom I lost this year at the ripe old age of 20.. She had that same disgusted look most of the time. I liked to say she was always thinking "shouldn't you be getting me some treats? Now away with you human!"

So glad you stopped by my blog the other day! It sounds like you had a great Halloween. We did too.

    xx Jaime

  21. Thank you so much for your well wishes for my kitty. ^-^ He is indeed better and back to his trouble-finding self. ^-^ I am relieved! =D

The video of Henri is just the best... XD Had me giggling like mad.

Hope everyone in your neck of the woods is doing well!

    XOXO
