A Finished Project & More Valentines...♥

Good Monday evening, everyone!

I know, Christmas is over...

but some of my projects are still hanging on!

Before Christmas I showed you this chair that has been in my family for ages...

(it was my Great Aunt Anna's)...

it has been in very sad shape for as long as I can remember ,

then it was in the fire, and stood in water in the basement...:^(

The post to see the "before" back in December can be revisited here ~

Here it is!

After looking at the inspiration photo again, I may need to sand it a little more...

I'm pretty happy with it, though. So glad I gave it another chance...

It looked so awful, it would have been pretty easy to throw it away!

I'm sure the little birdcage in the photo (below) is an antique,

but I just happened upon mine in Hobby Lobby,

and it was 50% off ~ :^)

Until I spied it, I hadn't planned on doing the project just yet,

but I took it as a sign that I should...

so I grabbed it ~ (there were a lot of styles; some fancier...

but this one looked the most like the actual antique)

~ and went back over to the ornaments to find the perfect color!

This color was interesting, I thought ~

not mirror-bright silver, but a darker, more pewter-tone...

However...

Now I wish I'd gone for that pop of pink or maybe red...

Oh, well ~ in just a few months Hobby Lobby will have Christmas decor again!

BTW, the bird cage was originally a dark cream...

I sprayed it the "Jadite Green" color,

which is actually Valspar Satin "Leafy Rise"

and then lightly sanded the metal here and there...

Here is the original Pinterest photo from Suzanne Duda; I thought it was so pretty!

More sweet kitties...

That kitten that the little boy is holding could be a baby Cyrus!

And last but not least, the little love-struck girl and her kitty, "Fluffs"...

(Poor Fluffs was crying on the card in my previous post...)

Poor Baby! Choose Fluffs, little girl, not that boy!!

  1. Love the chairs--I have a chair like that I am about to re-make...in white (of course) :) I have visions of it sitting outside with a basket of flowers. I am ready for spring!

BTW--we have some new "fur in the paint" at our house. :)

  9. Great job on the chair. I like it with the bird cage and the silver balls much better than the inspiration piece.

  15. That was a cute ending!
Love your bird cage and chair!
I came by the other night and tried to leave a comment but it just would not publish. I came by to tell you how much I love seeing your silky and chickens pop up on my laptop photos. I was tired the other day and as I turned off my laptop, there they were - to cheer me up. Next morning, when I was dragging ... there they were yet again!
    Thanks so much!
I had been by on your other valentine post and was going to help myself to a few. Didn't get to then, but I think I will now.
Are these from cards you kept?
    Thanks again!

  16. I love what you did to your chair, it reminds me of the chair that sat in my grandmothers house, and then my parents. It became my fathers chair for many years.
Thank-you for a pleasant memory, and for more vintage images!

  26. Hey love! I am glad you are now a follower of mine. Yeih!
It is awesome you have the actual plants in your home. It can be done any time, just after a good cleansing, smudging whatever, and the parts of the plant should have been already dried(you do n't want any mould on it). Have a wonderful weekend.

  27. Just love Fluffs.
The chair and the valentines are lovely. The two kitties tabby and ginger could just be my two boys Harry and Jasper. Harry no longer with me.
Such sweet faces although Jasper is a little less fluffy and skinny in his old age. Bless.

    Happy Valentines. Love Lisa x

  29. Hello, Anne....Thank you for visiting my blog! It was such a pleasure to 'see' you again.

Oh, I just love your post. Your chair is so charming. I'm glad you didn't get rid of it. It looks perfect cradling the birdcage, which by the way I thought it came that lovely green color. You really did a wonderful job with it all. Personally, I like your version much better than the pintrest version. I adore shabby chic, but the inspiration photo was a bit too shabby for me, however yours had the 'chic' added.
    It certainly inspired me.

Blessings for more inspiration and creation,

    Marianne xo

They're so pretty and witty. Poor little girl with the broken heart, but Fluffs is there to comfort her with unconditional love ♥

Thank you for this delightful post, Anne...see you soon.

    Hugs,
    Marianne
