When my oldest son,
Mark, was small, he thought we were saying "Prying Menace",
instead of "Praying Mantis" ~ hee, heee....
I still think of that whenever I see one... but I had not seen one in ages,
it seemed... until just the other night when I was watering my tall marigolds
and zinnias, brushing up against them, and this fellow hopped on my arm...

"You lookin' at me??"

I certainly had a lot of fun with our photo shoot, Mr. Mantis...

Anne, what great and fun photos of this most photogenic 'prying' mantis! Although they are welcome visitors to my garden, I don't know if I could have remained calm if one was on my arm -- EEEK!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend!!
I love that bug! I found two in my gazebo the other night. I chased all the other insects out with my fly swater, but I can live very peaceably with this so interesting insect.
ReplyDeleteI come here for lovely posts and you never disappoint.
That is so cool. Everything about your log is cool.

JB
What awesome photo's! Mr. Mantis better stay clear of Mrs. Mantis though or he'll lose his head!
ReplyDeleteHa ha, your son's version of the name was so sweet! I too love the insect - they have so much character - ninja-like describes them well!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful photos - a very joyful post Anne!
Your photos never cease to amaze me. Fabulous.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures..looks like you found a new friend..Have a nice weekend..
