Hi, everyone!
Can you believe it's already the fourth of October??
It's truly my favorite time of year...
First of all, I want to invite you to join me in a delightful Halloween Celebration!
Vanessa, of A Fanciful Twist, is hosting her Fifth Annual Halloween Party...
This will be my first time doing this ~ it's like the Mad Tea Party that I did an
"impromptu" version of...
Tallulah, Leo, Cyrus and I will be having our own Halloween Party!
Basically, it is a "blog hop", where the participants all share their own party photos
in a post on the designated day (or you can just visit if you don't have a blog), which will be
October 27th, 2012.
Click
here to visit Vanessa for more information, or if you'd like to join in!

Tallulah..."Woo" ~ is already getting in the spirit of things...:^)
~
~
Here I am, in Daddy's big red chair, in 1959 ~ I believe ~
The photo isn't dated, but I look about two, don't you think?
(I would have turned two the day before!)
I still have the little pumpkin my Grandma Collier got me,
and will be using him in my Halloween Party decor...
I love him ~ so glad I still have him!
~
~
I think I must have carried my little pumpkin everywhere with me for a few days...!
Luckily, my Mom put him away with the Halloween things we had ~
~ very little, actually, at the time...
(or I'm sure I would have continued to play with him,
using him for transportation for toads and snails and such...
I was never a very "girly-girl"!)
♥
As for the Halloween decor; we had a few figural candles
(that didn't make it into this century, unfortunately...;^),
A couple of noisemakers and costumes collected as the years went on...
Halloween decor just wasn't as popular as it is now; it was basically of the "perishable"
variety...Jack O'Lanterns and Indian Corn, things like that...
or paper decorations, very fragile.
Stay tuned!
~
~
Again, I'm offering Cypress Vine seeds to anyone who wants some...
this time, pink and white ones ~
(I've already promised some to a few and I haven't forgotten you!)
I ordered 10 seeds each this past spring from an eBay seller,
"White Feather" and "Bright Pink" ~
and now I have pinks and whites galore!
(Last year's more common Cardinal Red is actually in the minority in my garden now!)
(Just e-mail me with your address (anne@octobermoondesigns.com) if you would like some ~)
See the little brown seed pods, above?
When you get a start of Cypress Vine, you will have bazillions of seeds from
now on that you can share...
I also just learned two new names for the vine...
Cupid's Vine and Star Glory...
to go along with Cardinal Vine, Hummingbird Vine, and just plain Cypress Vine.
Funny, all the names we have for the same plant!
It's such a delicate vine that it really isn't invasive; it's very easy to just pull the little
tendrils away from whatever you don't want it to grow on...
I just liked the way it looked, enveloping the Witch Balls!
~
~
~
That's all for now...
I have to go dig out all my Halloween things and start making party-plans...
Have a wonderful evening!
♥
Darling photos!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie you were...love the knee socks. Halloween items are very collectible now and expensive in the antique shops. I have always loved the colors of Halloween decor. I am not much for spooky scary Halloween stuff.

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your visit. It is such fun to meet new friends.
ReplyDeleteAlthough we don't do Halloween decorations here yours are so attractive.
Halloween is a very American Tradition so therefore not celebrated here in Australia with such gusto as there in the USA...we had never really heard of it until my daughter went to live in upstate NY 8 years ago while her husband studied at Cornell..but now it is becoming more widely known and there are a few decorations getting about in the shops...Hope you Halloween Party is a great success and you have fun...thinking of you NettieXXX

Thanks for stopping by and for following! I'm your newest follower too! I think we may be about the same age. My birthdate is 10/13/57! You have inspired me to finally get out my Halloween decorations and get into the spirit. Today it's cloudy and about 70º - a far cry from last weeks soaring temps. It's a good time for seasonal decorations! I look forward to the parties!
ReplyDeleteRobin
Enjoyed this.
ReplyDeleteI am quite sure I have photos of my sister and I dressed for Hallowe'en in the 60's. Angels, caveman, Mighty Mouse, the Statue of Liberty, a witch...
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful plant, Anne, and how kind of you to offer seeds!
ReplyDeleteOk, you are adorable...your sweet smile radiates warmth and joy, and we are blessed to have you share your wonderful self with us!
I love Vanessa and her blog, and I can't wait to see what everyone creates...
Hugs,
- Irina
